This Week We Are Learning (10/5/26):

Reading- This week we will be focusing on: sentence segmentation; phoneme isolation, identity, blending; naming words (nouns); the comprehension skills: ask and answer questions as well as main story elements: settings. We will also discuss the letter Aa and its corresponding short phoneme, /a/. The high frequency word is: we.  (In addition to reviewing the letters/sounds of the alphabet, please continue to practice reading and identifying previous high frequency words at home.)

Religion- In this chapter the children will learn that God has a plan for each one of us. Because He created and loves everyone, He is our Father in Heaven. He loves us and wants to take care of us just like our fathers’ care for us.

 October is the Month of the Rosary. This week I will introduce the rosaries to the children.  Please take some time to talk to your child about the rosary, perhaps show them any rosaries you might have at home and maybe pray a decade or more together.

 Math- We will continue learning to compare groups of objects to identify if one group is greater in number, less in number, or equal in number to another group.

Social Studies- We will continue learning about Christopher Columbus.  We will learn about the globe, his voyage, and his three ships.

 Science- The children will continue investigating the concept of sinking and floating.
